A Few Changes to the Blog

I won’t be going a long hiatus I was just thinking about making some changes since I started writing again. I think I’m going to be posting more about my life after college and some of my experiences since I’m not a student anymore. I’m going to be doing Fan Friday, but I really would like to do something daily with my reactions with manga I’m reading. I also want to do a re-read of One Piece (that’s one of my favorites) so I think I’m going to be doing that with Daiya or Diamond no Ace. It’s a sports manga I started reading about baseball. I’m all caught up with Haikyuu (and crying about each chapter every week) I was thinking I could post my thoughts and reactions to Daiya.

I’m going to get back into fiction soon but I’m not sure if I want to do it on Wednesday like I did before, but I know I want to get back into posting my original stuff daily. I might do Second Chances daily since that’s more like writing a journal entry and New Home monthly since I have a lot of things I would like to plot for it.

I was also thinking of putting up an editing post soon since that’s what I did in college a lot, though I’m wondering if I should go through paypal or set up a Patron that way people can support my blog if they want to and have different services they can choose from such as another manga review post (since I’m thinking of doing Daiya one day and a re-read of One Piece on another), but I might hold off on One Piece because reading Daiya won’t take me too long.

So those are the changes coming soon to the blog. I can’t thank you enough for still coming to this blog to check out my stuff. Thank you so much!

Monday Fiction Post

6882092-men-holding-the-word-fiction-concept-3d-illustrationHello everyone! I’m trying to get back to an updating schedule and I’m trying new things too. So, here’s a fiction piece with the voice of someone that’s familiar and that’s Cassandra. It’s a bit of a spoiler since I haven’t revealed that she doesn’t have a good relationship with her mom yet, so here’s something to let you know why her relationship with Daniel and her uncle is so close.

In this piece Cass is around 18 years old.

This piece is entitled How is it Like? Enjoy!

You know there are times where I wonder how it’s like to be welcomed when you come home. You know with the whole “hey welcome home honey!” or “Hi honey how are you?” instead of always coming home to someone who doesn’t even care anymore since I grew up. I’ve often wondered what it’s like to actually like your mom to believe that she’s in your corner. I can’t even think about the last time that happened to me. I’ve never had that. I would never know how that feels, until I become a mom myself for now I don’t even know how that feels.

How is it like? To have a mom that doesn’t treat you like a punching bag? That doesn’t try to pair you and your sibling against each other.

Is it nice?

Does it feel good?

I always see people talk about how they would do anything for their mother. How their mother is their best friend, the one person that they talk to about everything when I can’t even be in the same room with mine without her thinking that I’m in some weird competition with her. Is that possible?

Can you actually like your mother without imagining life without her? I can’t remember the last time I was actually happy to be around my mother. Is that even possible? I can’t even think about the time I was actually happy to see her. I am so ready to just pack up everything and leave. She has my brother, she doesn’t need me. I get so tired of her putting us against each other when he is so uncomfortable with it. Is there a way to like your mom?

Is that possible?

If so, can you tell me how?

Can you tell me how is it like to go home and be welcomed by your mom?

How it is like?

I might do this more often, this felt nice.

Well until next Monday!

Fiction Wednesday: Second Chances Hospital Chapter 1 (Dana)

Hello! Welcome back to Fiction Wednesday! Today I make good on my word and post the new revamped chapter of Second Chances. I know I shouldn’t do this, but this is my first time writing in the 1st person. Let me know if I’m doing alright in it or not. I usually write in the 3rd person so I think this is good practice. Alright well enough talking let’s get into the chapter!

You know they tell you that you never forget your first time. It can be when you ride a bike, drive, or when you fall in love. I know I’ll never forget the first time I died. Well, it’s not like I had a choice in the matter. I remember the day too, it was the last day of July. I wanted to catch a movie as a way to celebrate becoming a college graduate. After all the stress I went through getting that psychology degree I deserved it. I normally stay home, if there’s something I want to do I plan days in advance before I go, but this time I wanted to be spontaneous. I called up Valerie, my college buddy, and were set for 7:30 that evening.

I got there a bit early, so I waited for her. I had no idea that would be my last night as a human.

Oh before I go on let me tell you that my name is Dana. I grew up in Detroit and all through the changes that went through the city. I remember when they declared bankruptcy then a few years later the paranormal came out and decided to buy the city. Well, it wasn’t just Detroit they were buying everything up, all over the world, but that’s something to explain for another day.

Anyway while I waited by the new theater in downtown Detroit, I went back to my car to get some tissue when someone pulled me into the alley. I fought them off as best as I could, but they didn’t make a move for my purse or anything. He turned me around and explained that he needed some blood. I registered as a donor for the new vampires a few day ago, so I didn’t think anything of it. His “little” snack turned into draining me and turning into a vampire. He stayed with me though during the chance even explained what happened when Valerie came around too.

It turned out that the guy going crazy with hunger was the founder of the new paranormal part in the hospital. He gave me a job as the new therapist in the paranormal part of the hospital. I may have died that night at least I came back to a job and a new opportunity. My friend Valerie is still mad at him. I know she’ll calm down soon.

I chewed on the end of my pen while I looked at my notes. I had a new presentation to do for the new vampires today and I hit a road block on what to say next. How did you introduce the topic of being a new vampire? Hey, you’re dead now welcome! Welcome to your second “life”! I frowned a bit at my notes as I deleted the title of the first slide once again. I wish I had something to help me when I first changed.

Anyway I looked back at the slide in front me before I checked the time. Crap! My shift is starting soon and I finished everything except finding a title for this presentation. It’s like college all over again at least I can stay up all night now without drinking a bunch of caffeine. I save what I finished before I go off to take my shower. Maybe I can think better in there.

It turns out that I have more trouble thinking in the shower than when I sit in front of my laptop. I walked back over as I dried my hair, at least I can manage it better, and frowned at the screen again. I go change into my work clothes while I tried to figure out what I can call this presentation. I grabbed the pile of pamphlets off my desk and put them in my bag. I had to make sure that I took them all with me this time. Thanks to the explosion of vampires in the media, everyone wanted to be one and it was my job to make sure people know what they’re getting into.

I licked my fangs as I checked the time again. I wondered if I could get something to eat before work. I wasn’t too hungry, but it would be a good idea to see my donor. It was right in the hospital, so I wouldn’t be too late for work. It’s never good to see a patient as a potential meal. Once I checked everything I returned to my laptop to stare at the screen again when it hit me. I leaned over and typed: Welcome to your second chance

It may be a bit cheesy, but I think that’s a good way to describe this life. I saved again, closed my laptop, and placed it in my bag. I did my final check of my apartment before I walked over to grab my purse and phone. I locked the door behind me and pulled out my phone on the way to the elevator. I frowned at the text of my friend David that told me he was going to be late again.

I shook my head as I stepped on the elevator.

Well this day is going to start out great.

Fiction Wednesday: The return of my serial Second Chances

We’re back with another fiction Wednesday! Today I was going to talk about more people in Adam’s family that I love to write like his brother Christophe or sister Angelique, but today I’m going to revisit my story Second Chances. I decided that during the month of October I’m going to bring it back! So far I only wrote about Dana, the newly turned vampire, and David, a human donor for the vampires that’s settled in Detroit and the Midtown area.

I actually didn’t come up with this idea. One day when I was talking with my good friend in my early years of college, the conversation turned to vampire stories and things we liked about them. She always wondered why people who were turned into vampires kept all their organs when they could donate them when they were human and then turn into vampires after. She suggested that I write it since I love vampires as much as she did and that she really liked my writing too. That was a wonderful push so I came up with the idea of setting it in Detroit.

I was pretty sad about the vacant lots around the city when going out and about one day. The idea of having the paranormal live in the city came as a joke between me and my brother. He suggested that would be a good idea and I ran with it. Many of my ideas come from talking it out with people as I can work much better that way, than trying to keep it all to myself.

Well, after that I came up with the idea of hospital. In this hospital the bosses are older vampires, werewolves, and similar creatures that help out young creatures along with people who want to become vampires.

Dana’s job is a therapist. She talks with the person who wants to become a vampire, since it’s a very big life choice. She also runs a group for newly changed vampires like her who didn’t really get a choice in the matter. However, the vampire stayed with her after she changed. He offered her a job too, so she was able to get something out of it. Still, it was a big adjustment that at times she wished she had a choice in the matter. Her purpose is to help others make that decision.

David is a blood donor for the vampires. He gives the recommended pints of blood if he doesn’t have an active donor. If he does then the vampire takes the recommended pints from him while under supervision from an older vampire that will stop any vampires from taking too much. He’s a bartender too in the Winchester hotel! So Adam and his family will make an appearance since they own the building. They’re also helping with the reconstruction of Detroit, since Bernard loves the human world and wanted to help.

I’m also going to jump a bit ahead and put in Will’s mother as well. Jasmine, Will’s mother, is a doctor that specializes in alternate treatments for werewolves, such as the ones that have problems transforming or the ones that like meat, but they don’t want to eat much of it. She also helps werewolves make sure that they don’t go overboard with their urges during the full moon.

I might put Cass in it as well, but as a volunteer. She has no desire to return as a full fledged healer, though she does love to volunteer.

For this story I’m thinking of writing it in first person, though I’m not very good with that point of view. I want to write it in third person, but I feel that it wouldn’t go well. There’s something in me that is not for writing this story in third person like I normally do. Whenever I have that feeling it means that I should follow it. Not to mention it would be a good way to practice different styles too. So, I’m going to keep it as first person.

If you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear it!

See you next Wednesday!

I updated!
